About Kota

Also known as the 'Education capital of the country', This city is located in the south eastern part of the state of Rajasthan. The city is situated along the Chambal river. Kota is known for educational institutes and colleges and has a significant student population. Around 2 lakh students visit Kota every year for engineering and medical entrances, A large part of which qualifies for premier institutes like IIT's, AIIMS, JIPMER amongst others.

Previously known as Kotah, the history goes back to 12th century when Rao Deva founded Bundi and Hadoti. In the 17th century Rao Madho Singhal was given the control of Kota by Mughal emperor Jahangir.

By Road

Kota is well connected to other cities by State highways and National highways. NH-12 which connects Jaipur-Jabalpur passes through the city. NH-76 also passes through the city of Kota.
Kota has two main Bus stands namely Rajasthan Roadways bus stand in Ramchandrapura and an ISBT on DCM road.

By Train

The city is well connected by train, Kota junction is one of the divisions on the West Central railway.
It is also a stopover on the Delhi Mumbai line. The city has connectivity with cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Bhopal.

By Air

The Nearest Airport is in Jaipur which is 240Km away .
