Gurgaon is a city in state of Haryana and is a part of Delhi - National Capital Region (NCR). It has become a leading financial and industrial hub with the third highest per capita income in India. Gurgaon is center for more than 250 Fortune-500 companies and city's economic growth story started when the leading Indian automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited established a manufacturing plant in here in the 1970s. Gurgaon was historically ruled over by Rajputs of Yaduvansi or Jadaun tribe. They were defeated by Muhammad of Ghor in 1196, but for two centuries they sturdily resisted the Muhammadian domination. This was followed by the invasion of Timur and the land was ruled by Khanzadas. It was then annexed by Babur and then Humayun toAkbar. After the Mughal Empire's decline it came under the British rule.

Summers are very hot with an average daily high temperature of 40 ℃ (104 ℉). Winters are cold and foggy with few sunny days, and with a daytime average of 3 ℃ (37 ℉). Winters chill can be furthered by mild rains. Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant seasons with low humidity. The monsoon season usually starts in the first week of July and continues till August.

Damadam Lake is a nice place to have day trips, picnic and family outings. Located near the Aravalli hills it is one of the biggest lakes in Haryana. Boating is a popular activity and has the options of row boats, paddle boats and motor boats.
